Dissatisfaction Never Sleeps
The inspiration for this sculpture struck me while working a mundane job at a factory as a Fitter and Turner. Describing the feeling of being trapped in a maze, the continuous cycle symbolizes the illusion of making progress.
I am grateful for the skills acquired during a decade of industry experience, but it also exposed me to some of the most unpleasant aspects of the job. Fixing machines can be boring, lonely, and thankless qualities not sought after in any career. However, what I found intolerable was the prevalence of mindless racism, sexism, and homophobia. Regularly confronting such issues made my work life a constant circulation of misery.
What I’ve realized is that for true satisfaction, I need not be walking around and around a factory fixing machines and talking to small-minded men. Instead, my fulfillment comes from pursuing my purpose of creating unique sculptures and fabricating original designs.
